Descriptions
This indoor historical exhibition is divided into 15 sections, some of which feature street theatre with live acts by individuals dressed in traditional Israeli attire, alongside livestock such as camels, sheep, donkeys, chickens, and ducks.
Below is a list of 15 sections featured and their descriptions.
These sections are all included in the standard admission ticket.
1. The Birth of Christ (Nativity of Jesus)
In this section we see the Nativity of Jesus pertains to the birth of Jesus Christ, as narrated in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. The biblical accounts reveal that Jesus was born in Bethlehem to the Virgin Mary, with angels announcing his birth to shepherds, who were later joined by wise men in their visit.
2. The Shepherds and Flocks
In the biblical account, this scene depicts the shepherds who were guided to the newborn Jesus by an angel. While tending their flocks, an angel appeared to them, announcing the birth of a Savior in Bethlehem. The angel provided a sign: they would find a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.
3. The Wise Men
In this section, we observe the Wise Men and the star they followed, known as the Star of Bethlehem according to the Gospel of Matthew. This celestial sign directed the Magi, or wise men, to the birthplace of Jesus.
4. Jesus Baptism
In the Bible, Jesus is baptized by John the Baptist in the Jordan River. This significant event, recorded in the Gospels, marks the commencement of Jesus' public ministry and is accompanied by a divine endorsement. Following Jesus' baptism, the heavens open, the Holy Spirit descends like a dove, and a voice from heaven proclaims Jesus as God's beloved Son.
5. Jesus Miracles
In this section, we explore the miracles of Jesus. He performed a multitude of miracles, including healing the sick, raising the dead, controlling nature, and casting out demons. These miraculous acts are chronicled in the four Gospels and are viewed as manifestations of his divine power and compassion.
6. Sea of Galilee
Step into the captivating Sea of Galilee, featuring an immersive interactive projection of rolling waves. Visitors are transported back in time to the Holy Land. A replica of an ancient fishing boat used during that era in Israel is also on display.
7. The Last Supper
In this scene, we witness Jesus sharing the Last Supper with his disciples. The Last Supper was the final meal Jesus had with his apostles before his crucifixion. It is detailed in the New Testament, especially in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke, as well as in 1 Corinthians. During this Passover meal, Jesus established the Eucharist (also referred to as Holy Communion or the Lord's Supper) by sharing bread and wine with his disciples, explaining that the bread symbolized his body and the wine his blood, which would be shed for the forgiveness of sins.
8. The Tribe of Judah
This exhibit presents a lion, a sheep, a crown, and a scroll. It provides a detailed explanation of the lion mentioned in Revelation 5, identified as Jesus Christ, the "Lion of the tribe of Judah," who is deemed worthy to open the scroll and gaze upon its contents.
9. The Betrayal
In this scene, we witness the betrayal of Jesus, which pertains to Judas Iscariot's act of identifying Jesus to the authorities, resulting in his arrest and crucifixion. For 30 pieces of silver, Judas led soldiers to the Garden of Gethsemane and identified Jesus with a kiss, enabling them to take him into custody.
10. Jesus Condemned
In this part, we witness the condemnation of Jesus to death, a crucial moment in the pilgrims story. This event took place following a trial led by Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor of Judea, during which the Jewish religious authorities accused him of asserting that he was the King of the Jews and stirring up insurrection. Although Pilate initially saw no wrongdoing in Jesus, he eventually succumbed to the demands of the crowd and sentenced him to be crucified.
11. Via Dolorosa
The Via Dolorosa is a street located in the Old City of Jerusalem, thought to be the path Jesus took on his way to crucifixion. It is also referred to as the "Way of Suffering" or "Way of Sorrows." The route comprises 14 traditional stations, each commemorating a significant event in Jesus's final journey. In this section, visitors will encounter a replica of the crown of thorns, the whip, and the nails used during the crucifixion.
12. The Crucifixion
In this section we see Jesus on the cross, The crucifixion of Jesus stands as a significant historical occurrence in which Jesus, a Jewish preacher, faced condemnation to death by crucifixion at the hands of the Roman prefect Pontius Pilate during the 1st century in Roman Judaea. This event, as narrated in the Gospels, holds a pivotal place in pilgrims theology, symbolizing Jesus' sacrifice for the redemption of sins.
13. Tomb of Jesus
This exhibit showcases a replica of the tomb where Jesus of Nazareth is believed to have been laid to rest before his resurrection on the third day.
14. The Resurrection
In this scene, we witness the resurrection of Jesus, a pivotal moment in pilgrims journey. It is believed that Jesus rose from the dead on the third day following his crucifixion. This miraculous event is commemorated during Easter and is regarded as the cornerstone of the pilgrims faith, showcasing Jesus's triumph over death and affirming his identity as the Son of God
15. Ascension
In this scene, we observe Jesus Christ alongside his disciples. According to the Bible, Jesus ascended to Heaven from the Mount of Olives. This ascension signifies the conclusion of his earthly ministry and his glorious return to God the Father. This pivotal event, known as the Ascension, is a fundamental aspect of creations faith, representing Jesus's triumph over sin and death.
